Annual Derwent Reservoir Duathlons – Sunday 17th May 2026 

We are delighted to announce that we are returning for our Annual Duathlon Event at the beautiful Derwent Reservoir in County Durham on Sunday 17th May 2026!

The event is open to all fitness levels — any type of push bike can be used, but a cycling helmet must be worn. The Sprint (Short) Duathlon is ideal for first timers and novice athletes.

Derwent Reservoir

This outstanding reservoir, owned by Northumbrian Water, sits on the border of Durham & Northumberland. The Duathlon will take place from the south side of the reservoir.

Running: Tarmac & trail paths around the waterside

Cycling: Quiet open roads around the reservoir towards Edmundbyers, Blanchland & Slaley

Event Distances

Sprint (Short) Duathlon

Run – 5km | Cycle – 20km | Run – 2.5km

Standard Duathlon

Run – 10km | Cycle – 40km | Run – 5km

Both distances can be completed individually or as a relay team with friends.

Trail Runs – We also have 5km and 10km trail runs at this event

Transition Area

  • Secure transition area for competitors only
  • Race Number & Bike Number correspond with your racking spot
  • Small bags/boxes permitted inside transition
  • Bike number must be attached & helmet visible before entering
  • Bib & bike numbers will be checked before exiting, so keep them on

Age Restriction

Due to the event being on open roads, the minimum age is 17.

Timing

Live Chip Timing will be provided by Timing Up North for accurate results.

Parking
