Lambton Estate Summer Trail Runs – August 2026

We are excited to bring you this superb summer trail running event, set within the truly outstanding private grounds of the Lambton Estate, Chester-le-Street, County Durham.

Usually closed to the public (except for Sunday nature walks), this hidden gem offers jaw-dropping scenery, historic surroundings, and — if you’re lucky — sightings of real Wild Deer!

Event Schedule:

•  5 Mile Trail Run – 10am
• 10 Mile Trail Run – 9.30am
• 15 Mile Trail Run – 9.30am

Start times are approximate and may be subject to change.

Distances

5 Mile Trail Run

• Mixed terrain route — great for intermediate runners and those looking for a shorter challenge.

10 Mile Trail Run

• A moderately undulating course with woodland trails, open fields, and estate roads.

15 Mile Trail Run

• The 10-mile route followed by the 5-mile loop — perfect for endurance runners.

Expect scenic woodland tracks, grassy fields, firm paths, and brief sections on private estate roads.

Canicross Friendly

This is a Canicross-friendly event!

• One well-controlled dog per runner is allowed
• Dogs must remain on a lead at all times

The Lambton Estate is owned by the Earl of Durham and offers:

• Private trails not normally open to the public
• Stunning woodland and parkland landscapes
• Historic architecture and hidden gems within the estate
• A rare chance to run in one of County Durham’s most exclusive locations

• Live chip-timing provided by Timing Up North
• Instant and accurate race results.
